Our Family loves traveling, and when I say traveling, I mean Road trips. So much that we actually covered Gurgaon to Bangalore in our Car. Yes, that was our 1st major road trip. So, below I’m sharing with you a foolproof Family Road trip guide.
Now, first things first, things to keep in mind while planning for a big road trip especially if you’re traveling with a kid. We were traveling with my 7-year-old, and he is very fussy when it comes to road journeys and God only save us if he has to share his back seat because he enjoys sleeping and relaxing while traveling. So, I had to mentally prepare him days before our big travel. I hope that this family road trip guide becomes the ultimate solution for your journey.
Journeying with family: Road Trip Secret Guide
🚗Plan your journey, plan the routes, and do detailed #rnd on the halts.
🚗Drive for 550-600 km, plan a halt at a city, and rest for the night.
🚗If you have kids along, create excitement in them with all the possible fun activities that you may do while on the go.
🚗Create a comfortable bed-like space on the back seat to avoid discomfort for yourself and the child.
🚗Carry enough dry snacks to avoid hunger pangs and boredom.
🚗Halt every 3-4 hours for 5 mins, stretch, and walk along with the child to relax those bones and muscles.
🚗Play the child’s favorite choice of songs.
🚗Most importantly, carry medicines.
🚗Allow the child to sleep for a few hours.
Day 1 – Gurgaon – Jaipur – Ujjain – Indore
P.s. I’m not counting Gurgaon to Jaipur because that is our home. We left Gurgaon on 27th March by 2 pm in the afternoon and reached Jaipur at 7 pm. We rested and slept well. Make sure to put your child to sleep on time so that they are fresh and not cranky when you start with your travel. We asked Reyansh, my 7-year-old to choose his favorite songs and create a playlist on our phones. I made sure to carry some healthy parathas and baked some healthy cookies, whole-wheat cakes, and many more dry snacks so that munching becomes easy while on the go. We wanted to create a comfortable ride for him and hence keeping the same in mind we ordered an inflatable car bed from Amazon. Trust me, this was a very useful investment.
Itinerary Day 1: Kid-friendly road trip adventure
- We started from Jaipur at 7 a.m. and the route we were to cover was Jaipur – Ujjain – Indore. It was a total of 600 km and we reached Indore at 7 p.m. a 12-hour journey. In between we halted for lunch at local eateries, for tea at local chaiwalas, a 5-minute stretch, etc.
- We booked our rooms at Hotel Marriot and the tariff was pretty decent as it was off-season, so we booked 2 rooms, one for my brother and 1 for us. the total tariff including breakfast and after the discount came to ₹7800/-.
- We dined at a nearby eatery, Shiv Shakti Bhojanalay. We wanted to eat simple, basic food. And this was more than we could have asked for. Decent quality, great service, and is absolutely pocket-friendly. The thalis were priced at ₹170/thali.
- With this, we marked a beautiful end to our Day 1 journey.
